Low states of intermediate polars

02/01/2019 by dpv

The by-product of long term monitoring of intermediate polars is the discovery of low states similar to the low states in classical polars. Up to now we know that such phenomenon was observed in V1323 Her, FO Aqr, DO Dra.

Long term light curve of V1323 Her showing several deep low states
Periodograms for FO Aqr. Comparison between low and high state. Clear evidence of the transition from disk fed accretion (in high state) to the stream fed accretion (low state)

Following are the long term light curves of DO Dra showing transition from stable behaviour with few short outburst the strange one in recent 2 years.
